The System Administrator will support networks, Windows Servers, IIS, and Microsoft SQL, as well as end user PCs for internal and some customer site locations. JAMIS is looking for a system administrator with experience in the software development environment. This includes networks, Windows Servers, IIS, Microsoft SQL Server, and supporting end-user PCs. This position is based on the East Coast, with the possibility of remote work depending on location. Reporting to the Director of Network Operations, the role involves supporting other departments such as software development, QA, and customer support. Additionally, there will be direct interaction with customers to perform operations on their local servers. Responsibilities
- Assist in administering infrastructure, including firewalls, servers, databases, and security software.
- Create, manage, and verify data backups.
- Install, upgrade, and maintain software programs in our hosting environment.
- Support employee workstations, from troubleshooting MS Office 365 to working with Endpoint Management software.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or a related discipline.
- 2-4 years of experience in systems administration.
- Proficient in installing, configuring, and supporting software in Microsoft environments.
- Skilled in Active Directory/Exchange management and Entra integration.
- Experienced with SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams management and security.
- Familiarity with Citrix XenApp or MS Remote Desktop environments.
- Ability to identify essential network equipment, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Strong communication skills in a widely distributed environment.
OTHER Desired Experience
- Ability to respond to support issues after hours, including expertise in Microsoft IIS, Microsoft SQL Server, and MariaDB.
- Familiarity with Backup Exec or other backup technologies.
- Experience with VMware or other virtual server environments.
- Proficiency in AWS or other cloud hosting environments.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Server Products, including Exchange and DNS.
- Familiarity with SolarWinds, Rapid7, and other monitoring and security software.
