JAMIS Software continues to proudly support the Professional Services Council (PSC) this holiday season as a sponsor for the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) to collect food and donations during PSC’s annual membership meeting on December 15th which a 50th Anniversary Celebration will follow at the Westin Arlington Gateway in Arlington, VA.
To support AFAC, JAMIS is asking PSC’s annual membership meeting attendees to bring non-perishable food items, a Giant/Safeway gift cards, or to donate directly with onsite supporting PSC personnel. Thanks to JAMIS Software, those who donate will be entered into a raffle for Bose Quiet Comfort 45 Bluetooth Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones. Monetary donations can also be made online at: https://afac.org/campaign/psc-fundraiser/.
AFAC, a community-based non-profit providing supplemental groceries to Arlington neighborhoods in need, receives 65 percent of the food it distributes from direct donations. AFAC helps to feed approximately 3,500 adults and 1,500 children by providing essential nutrition such as eggs, milk, fresh produce, bread, and oatmeal each week. AFAC reports that approximately 15,000 residents of Arlington County are considered to be food insecure.
“JAMIS admires the outstanding work AFAC does in our community throughout the year,” said Jeff Noolas, CEO at JAMIS Software. “All of us at JAMIS want to raise awareness and provide our support to help our community fight hunger, especially during the holidays when so many families are struggling.”
The ever-increasing high cost of living in the region often means that many families find it challenging to make ends meet. The AFAC reports that approximately 31,500 residents of Arlington County are considered to be food insecure, with 7,000 currently being served by their organization. AFAC sees an acute need for donations during this time of year because the number of families seeking assistance typically grows between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.
AFAC is located at 2708 South Nelson Street in Arlington, VA. For more information about how to organize a food drive or donate, please visit afac.org.
