Unanet To Be Issued Second ‘Cease and Desist’ For Using Misleading Sales Tactics
Repeated Tactic Under New Ownership Illustrates Institutional and Wanton Negligence

San Diego, CA: Nearly nine months before JMI Equity acquired Unanet in June 2019, Unanet was sent a ‘cease and desist’ letter regarding their misleading sales tactics by lawyers representing JAMIS Software. The main violation of ethical business practices, then and now, include Unanet’s claim that JAMIS Software contains foreign code making it invalid for work with the Federal Government. Several prospective customers were deceived into believing that JAMIS Software would therefore not pass a DCAA or CMMC audit, despite the fact that JAMIS Software has clients who have previously passed DCAA audits and other clients currently implementing CMMC. However, rather than ending the practice, it appears that Unanet has instead increased in using this dishonest sales tactic since their acquisition by JMI Equity.
“We issued the first Cease and Desist letter when we had prospective clients frequently informing us they were being told directly by Unanet sales representatives that if they bought JAMIS Software, they could lose Federal business due to some foreign coding in our software,” Jeff Noolas, CEO and Founder of JAMIS Software, explained. “However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. So we are preparing to send a second cease and desist order.”
“JAMIS’ code goes through a series of rigorous testing, validation and certification programs to ensure the security of our product which is carried out by our Prime product team based in Coral Springs, Florida,” Mr. Noolas continued. “Some prospects have been fearful of losing their Federal clients if they purchased our products, not knowing that they were being deceived. It is unfortunate our competition has to resort to these unethical and illegal tactics. JAMIS has made significant investments in our modern, cloud platform and our competitors have no plans to make that investment. Instead, this is how they want to compete. If it takes a second Cease and Desist order to make them stop, then that’s what we’ll do.”
