So You’re Implementing an ERP System, Is Your Team Prepared?

Posted by JAMIS Software on September 18, 2018

An organization will decide to purchase a new enterprise software system for a variety of reasons.  It can be justified due to growth, the need to automate business processes and cut costs, achieve organizational efficiency, or potentially prepare for better regulatory compliance adherence.  It can be exciting to make a software selection when leadership comes together and agrees upon a solution to transform the business.  “No more manual spreadsheets for us!”, some may say.  “We’re going to save hundreds of thousands, even millions!”, others may say.  But once the euphoria of the software selection has worn off, often the reality sets in that a software implementation lies ahead.  And in order to achieve the desired results and ROI for your company, it will require significant planning and discipline.

So, what can a company do to ensure their success when it comes to undertaking a software implementation?  The truth is, there is no silver bullet.  But like anything else in life, preparation leads to a higher rate of success.  There are a number of theories and resources out there that can help your cause.  For some insight on this topic, take a look at this white paper by JAMIS called: Tips For A Successful ERP Implementation.

In addition, here are 5 different sources we found to be very useful as well:

  1. Project Management: 6 Best Practices for Ensuring Software Implementation Success (CIO Magazine)
  2. Secrets to implementation success (McKinsey & Company)
  3. The 5 Best Practices To Assure Your Next Software Implementation Is A Complete Success (Bedrock Data)
  4. 12 Steps to Software Implementation Success (Series by BDO USA)
  5. Although this final article isn’t about ERP, one can draw parallels to the conclusions found in this publication from the Journal of The American Medical Informatics Association: Ten key considerations for the successful implementation and adoption of large-scale health information technology

Fortunately, there are many useful tools available in today’s environment that can give businesses an edge.  Many software vendors offer web-based and on-demand training courses for easier access to training content. Wiki documentation or web-based documentation has become widely adopted for access to user manuals wherever you are.  Online meeting tools such as GoToMeeting, Webex, Skype, and Join.me are available to make meetings and training available anytime and anywhere.  To find out more about how JAMIS Software Corporation might be able to help you achieve ERP Software implementation success, contact us directly at info@jamis.com, or visit www.jamis.com.  Or sign up for a personal demonstration of JAMIS Prime ERP software HERE.
